Attempted Murder Charge

POLICE have charged a man with attempted murder following a serious collision in Westcliff.
Officers were called at around 7.30am on Thursday 16 April to Crowstone Road, Westcliff.
It was reported that a white Mercedes C Class car, registration YD14 OHT, had been involved in a collision with a man before the vehicle left the area.
The 50-year-old man received immediate treatment from members of the public, officers and ambulance service colleagues. He was taken to hospital, where (at the time of writing) he remains in a critical condition.
Now, 26-year-old James Wallace, of no fixed abode, has been charged with attempted murder and handling stolen goods, and remanded in custody to appear at Basildon Magistrates’ Court on Monday 20 April.
Police are appealing for any information about the movement of the Mercedes, in particular in the areas of Sutton Road, Crowstone Road and Britannia Road on Thursday 16 April.
