Hadleigh Surgery Reopens - A GP surgery in Hadleigh that has been closed for nine months is set to open under new management.
A GP surgery in Hadleigh that has been closed for nine months is set to open under new management.
The Hollies, on Rectory Road, will reopen as Rectory Road Surgery on 3 August, the NHS Essex Integrated Care Board (ICB) said.
The surgery closed unexpectedly on 31 October after the resident doctor was suspended by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) over concerns about leadership under the former director, Dr Olusegun Olatokunbo Omosini.
Dr Omosini pleaded guilty to stalking charges at Basildon Crown Court last month.
Warren Gibson, the deputy leader of Castle Point Borough Council, said it had been an “extraordinary situation.”
“I hope that the new practice supports them in this next period of adjustment,” the Independent councillor added.
Since the surgery closed, patients of which there are 12,800, have received health care in other local locations.
The reopening follows months of legal discussions between the GP practice team and the building’s landlord, as well as a previously suggested return in March.
Tom Abell, the chief executive of NHS Essex, said it had been a ‘challenging period.’
“I would like to apologise to patients for the disruption they have experienced,” he added.
Dame Rebecca Harris, the Conservative MP for Castle Point, said: “I’m very pleased that this has finally been resolved, after months of uncertainty for residents.”
She added: “The GP practice team and landlord have now reached an agreement on legal arrangements, and the practice team is now working on a plan to prepare the building for reopening, such as moving equipment and preparing clinical systems to ensure a safe and smooth return for patients.
“I am grateful to everyone who has worked so hard to support the restoration of services and the excellent Highlands practice for stepping in to see patients.”
Patients do not need to re-register when the surgery reopens; they will remain registered with the practice as usual.
Patients with existing appointments will be contacted directly if there are any changes to appointment locations. Updates about the reopening date in August will be available on the practice website.www.theholliesgpsurgery.co.uk.
