Serious Assault Appeal

POLICE are appealing for any information, doorbell, dashcam footage or CCTV from witnesses to a serious assault in Westcliff.
It was reported that, in the afternoon or early evening of Friday 12 June, a woman seriously assaulted a man in his 40s in London Road, close to The Cricketers pub, leaving him with injuries to his head and chest.
A 46-year-old woman from Chiswick is on bail having been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, and controlling and coercive behaviour.
Sadly since this reported incident, the man in his 40s has died. The investigation into the assault is ongoing.
Temporary Detective Inspector Steve Robson said: “We believe this was a sustained serious assault – anyone that witnessed this or was in the area and may have footage of this could be key.
“Even the smallest piece of information or shortest dashcam clip may prove vital.
“If you were in London Road that weekend in June, we want to hear from you as soon as possible.”
