10-Hour Cross-Country - TEACHER, Mr Jones, and eight incredible Year 13 students from The Sweyne Park School took on a 10-hour cross-country relay challenge.
TEACHER, Mr Jones, and eight incredible Year 13 students from The Sweyne Park School took on a 10-hour cross-country relay challenge.
A school spokesperson said: “and absolutely smashed it, covering an unbelievable 127 kilometres along the tough, undulating local bridle path.
“To put that into perspective, 127 km is the same distance it would take to run from Rayleigh all the way to Brighton or Cambridge! An absolutely astonishing achievement for a single school-day relay.”
This event was held in memory of Tom Wilson, a close friend and teammate of Mr Jones, who tragically passed away in a hockey training accident ten years ago. Thanks to the quick actions of those present, CPR kept Tom’s organs viable long enough for him to become an organ donor, ultimately saving multiple lives.
Mr Wilson’s mum, Lisa, was even able to hear his heart beating inside the man whose life it saved, a powerful and lasting legacy.
All funds raised will support the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS). In return, RLSS members will visit the school to deliver vital CPR training to as many students as possible, giving them the skills and confidence to act in an emergency and potentially save lives.
