Staff and volunteers were out in force to help the event go with a bang and visitors were able to peruse a number of doggie related stalls.

A spokesperson for the show said: “The event was kindly sponsored by local IT specialists, Utilize UK.

“There were seven, hotly contested, classes and the judges – Leigh Town Council Independent, Keith Evans and Greg Borgartz from the Essex Wildlife Trust – had a tough afternoon!

“Round One was the Best Veteran for dogs over seven years old. Some incredible dogs in this class but the winner was 10 year old Essie with her owner Tim.

“Our second round was the Best Puppy for dogs 6 – 12 months.  This was won by 6 month old Ziggy with owner Matthew.

“The Best Junior Handler was a hotly contested, Round Three. The winner was 8 month old Coco owned by Stuart.

“Round Four was Best Condition. Congratulations to Gunner with his owner Alan Girling.

“Round Five was the Prettiest Bitch. Some wonderful entries but the prize was won by Violet, with her owners Esmerelda & Reggie. There was a huge entry for Round Six: The Handsomest Dog. Congratulations to Zac and his owner Megan.

“For Round Seven The Dog The Judges Would most Like To Take Home, we were joined by Guest Judge, and MP for Southend West, David Burton-Sampson. I think both judges would have taken a number of them home but eventually chose Dougal, with owner Chery.

“All the winners went forward for Best In Show! After much deliberation David and Keith awarded Reserve Best In Show to Essie and our 2025 Best In Show was Ziggy.

“Thank you to everyone that supported the event, all the owners, their dogs and families.”
