LOCAL artists, voluntary organisations and community groups are being offered the chance to showcase their work for free at the iconic Rayleigh Windmill, as Rochford District Council opens applications for its 2026 exhibition programme.
The award‑winning heritage site features a small museum and dedicated exhibition space on the second floor, attracting thousands of visitors each year from across the district.
Successful applicants will be allocated a three‑ to four‑week slot and will be expected to attend during opening hours to engage with visitors. There is no charge to exhibit. The Windmill will be open from early April until the end of September. Opening hours are Wednesdays from 10am to 1pm, and Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm to 4pm.
Coun Daniel Efde, Chair of the Economic Development, Regeneration and Tourism Committee at Rochford District Council, said: “The Rayleigh Windmill is one of our district’s most cherished landmarks, and we are pleased to once again offer its exhibition space free of charge to local artists and community groups.
“This opportunity not only celebrates local creativity but also helps connect our residents and visitors with the cultural talent we have here in Rochford District. I encourage anyone with a passion for art, heritage or community storytelling to apply.”
The deadline for applications and expressing an interest in this opportunity is 5pm on Friday 27 February 2026.
