Windmill To Reopen

THE Rayleigh Windmill is preparing to welcome visitors once again as it reopens on Wednesday 1 April.
The award‑winning, Grade II listed landmark invites families, local residents and history enthusiasts to rediscover its rich heritage and engaging displays.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the completion of the Windmill’s major renovation works, making the 2026 season a special celebration year for this much‑loved landmark.
Maintained by a dedicated team of friendly and knowledgeable volunteers, the Windmill offers a unique and charming experience across its four floors. Visitors can explore a range of fascinating artefacts, take in impressive views across Rayleigh and the surrounding area, and enjoy a programme of high‑quality art exhibitions running throughout the season.
After visiting the Windmill, those looking to continue their heritage journey can also enjoy a history fix at the nearby Rayleigh Museum.
Rayleigh Windmill will open on Wednesdays from 10am to 1pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 1pm to 4pm, with free entry for all visitors.

“Thanks to the passion and commitment of our wonderful volunteers, the Windmill continues to offer residents and visitors a warm welcome and a fascinating insight into our local heritage. I encourage everyone to come along, explore the displays and enjoy everything this unique building has to offer.”
