Nursery Worker Retires

A HADLEIGH nursery worker is celebrating her retirement after nearly 40 years at the same school.
Lesley Pratt, 61, enjoyed her last day Hadleigh Infants and Nursery School (HINS) at the end of March, in a goodbye filled with gifts and a warm send-off.
Mrs Pratt commented: “I’ve loved the three- and four-year-olds, I’ve had a magical time and I’ve loved it all,” she said.
In her 40 years Mrs Pratt has witnessed generations of the same family pass through the school.
Colleague Emma Davis said Ms Pratt was a favourite for her ‘magic box’ during PE time, and that she was “always adored by the children”.
Despite the four decades, Mrs Pratt says the time has flown by: “I started in 1986, it was my mum’s birthday, February 17,” she said. “That time has just gone.
“It’s just been my second home; it’s never felt like work, making so many lifetime friends.
“Nursery is so important as it’s the first steps into education and I hope I have made the children feel happy, safe and confident to continue their journey into school life.
“I will miss you all.”
A spokesperson for the school said: “We bid farewell to our lovely Mrs Pratt who has worked here at HINS for almost 38 years!
“We think that Mrs Pratt has worked with almost 2000 children during her time here showing each one the same kindness and care.
“We wish Mrs Pratt every happiness in her retirement and hope she enjoys some well-deserved time with her family and friends.
“Thank you for everything you have done for the school and the children!”
