MP’s Consultation Call

DAVID Burton-Sampson is calling charities, carers, families and any organisations with a special interest in helping support disabled people, to contribute to the government’s consultation.
A review of the future of Personal Independence Payments (PIP) is being carried out by Sir Stephen Timms, to make sure they are fair and fit for a changing world.
PIP payments are designed to assist people with disabilities to achieve better health, higher living standards and greater independence, including through employment.
The MP for Southend West and Leigh said: “We want to bring together as many people as possible to contribute to this ‘Call for Evidence’ process.
“It is so important that we get this right and only by listening to the lived experiences of people will it give us the insight to develop recommendations.
“I urge everyone with a stake in this to take part.”
The Timms Review is the first time that the government has co-produced a report with stakeholders.
Mr Burton-Sampson added: “There are four themes that the review is looking at.
“PIP’s role and purpose, its eligibility and fairness , the experience of actually claiming PIP and its context and impact since being introduced.
“I would encourage you to make the voices of Southend West and Leigh heard because we really need the input of people who are directly affected.”
