A CLEAN-UP at an “eyesore” site on the A127 listed for urgent action by Southend Council has had its hoardings cleaned up.
The Council have removed graffiti and fly-posters from the “long-standing eyesore” at 25 Prince Avenue in a bid to improve the street scene.
Coun Lydia Hyde said: “Really pleased to have arranged a clear-up of the hoardings at 25 Prince Avenue.
“Graffiti has now been removed, along with fly-posters and unauthorised advertising boards that had built up over time — a small change, but one that makes a real difference to the look and feel of the street.
“This site has been a long-standing eyesore, and I’ve worked hard to push for action — using the powers available to the Council to get movement on this plot and see it demolished.”
The site has also been added the council’s ‘Dirty Dozen’ list, which earmarks problem sites in need of demolition or refurbishment, targeting the worst derelict properties across Southend and bringing them back into use.
Coun Hyde added: “Following the recent success of securing an owner for The Kursaal, I’m determined we see the same progress here.
“This Prince Avenue site is firmly on the radar, and I’ll keep pushing until it’s transformed into the much-needed family homes our area deserves.”
