Navy’s Newest Frigate

A SOUTH Essex MP recently visited the Royal Navy’s newest frigate, HMS Glasgow, which is currently in the final stages of construction.
Rayleigh and Wickford MP, Mark Francois, who is also the Shadow Armed Forces Minister, was part of a visit to BAE Systems in Glasgow, where the ship of the same name is now in the final stages of being built.
HMS Glasgow, the first of eight Type 26 frigates currently on order for the Royal Navy, will commence her sea trials next year and then join the fleet shortly thereafter.
Speaking about the visit, Mr Francois said: “It was an absolute privilege to visit HMS Glasgow, a brand new 21st century frigate, which is optimised for anti submarine warfare, in the North Atlantic.
“She is clearly going to be a fantastic ship and may God Bless Her and all who sail in her.”
