£1.6k For Children’s Charity

A LEIGH fundraiser has raised over £1,500 for a children’s charity, in thanks of the care and support given to a seriously ill baby and his family.
The event, held at the Crooked Billet, brought together friends, family and residents for an afternoon of fundraising and live entertainment, raising £1,682.25 for The Sick Children’s Trust.
Organised by Freddie’s aunt Daisy Browne, who is also taking on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, the afternoon fundraised for the charity that supported the family during a critical time soon after Freddie’s birth.
He was rushed to the Royal London Hospital where he underwent major surgery after his windpipe was not properly connected to his throat, meaning he was unable to swallow or take in liquids.
During this time, Freddie’s parents, Mylo and Liv Browne, remained by his side as he received lifesaving treatment.
The Sick Children’s Trust supported the family by helping them stay close to Freddie while he was in hospital.
Daisy Browne said: “When my nephew Freddie was in the NICU at the Royal London Hospital, my brother and sister-in-law were living every parent’s worst fear.
“Those days were long, heavy, and filled with uncertainty.
“But thanks to The Sick Children’s Trust, they never had to face those moments alone.
“The charity gave them a warm, safe place to stay just moments away from Freddie, easing the weight of worry so they could focus entirely on their tiny, fighting little boy.”
The afternoon featured live music from Luke Singleton and the Big Yellow Suitcase band, as the community joined together in the Old Town to celebrate and drive-up donations.
Ms Browne added: “I’m so grateful to everyone who came down and supported.
“We absolutely smashed the target on the day.
“It means the world to us as a family.”
Ms Browne has further fundraising events planned, including a quiz night at Legra on June 11.
