Play Spaces Upgrades

FOUR play areas in the Rochford District are set for a major refresh over the coming months, with improvement works planned at Fairview Recreation Ground, Clements Hall Leisure Centre, Hockley Woods and Sweyne Park, as part of a wider investment in community play spaces.
The programme of works will replace ageing equipment, improve safety surfacing and modernise play areas where facilities have reached the end of their life or where there is an opportunity to enhance the play experience for local children and families.
As work starts at each play area, some sections may be fenced off or have limited access.
A Rochford District Council statement said: “We ask everyone to follow the safety signs, keep clear of barriers and avoid going into any work zones. Each play area will reopen once the work is finished, giving families updated, safe and enjoyable spaces to use again.
“At Clements Hall Leisure Centre, existing play equipment which is up to 20 years old will be replaced as part of a wider upgrade to the site. Works at the site are expected to begin in late June and continue through much of the summer holiday period.
“This update will complement the modern new skatepark, which opened earlier this year and is already proving to be a popular and well‑used facility for young people.
“At Hockley Woods, the toddler play area will be upgraded with more modern and engaging equipment designed specifically for younger children. Work is planned to begin in early June and is expected to be completed by the end of the month.
“Fairview Recreation Ground and Sweyne Park will also receive improvement works, including upgrades to safety surfacing and the replacement of ageing equipment to keep both sites safe and attractive.
“Work at Sweyne Park is expected to begin in late June and continue until around mid‑July. Improvements at Fairview Recreation Ground are planned to start in July and run until early August.”
