Card Competition Winner

THE Chairman of Rochford District Council has announced the winner of this year’s Christmas Card competition.
Coun Jo McPherson, launched this year’s festive competition to inspire children across the district with the theme “The Kindness of Christmas.” Entrants were invited to design the front cover of the official Chairman’s Christmas card, which will be sent to Mayors and dignitaries throughout Essex.
Children living in or attending infant and primary schools within the district submitted an array of imaginative and heartwarming designs, making the final decision a challenging one. After careful consideration, the Chairman selected a design that she felt perfectly captured the essence of kindness and the joy of the season.
A council statement said: “Congratulations to Ethan Kitchener, aged 8, whose artwork has been awarded first prize and will feature on the official Civic Christmas Card. Ethan also received a £50 gift voucher and a copy of the finished card.
“Three talented runners-up Holly Tickett (7), Rebecca Pedder (7) and Sophie Wood (6), were recognised for their outstanding designs.”
Coun McPherson, Chairman of Rochford District Council said: “The creativity and thoughtfulness shown by all the entrants was truly inspiring. It’s wonderful to see the spirit of Christmas reflected in such imaginative designs. Congratulations to our winner and runners-up and thank you to everyone who took part.”
