SOUTHEND Vox and Vox Chamber will return to Priory Park Bandstand on 4 July 2026 at 3pm as part of Southend Council’s Music in the Park summer concert series.
The award-winning Southend-based sister choirs will take to the Bandstand stage for their annual flagship summer performance, presenting a vibrant celebration of the Great American Songbook.
Southend Vox is a fun, diverse choir made up of singers from all walks of life. Established in 2009, the group has supported the local community for more than a decade, offering a welcoming and inclusive environment for singers to explore everything from pop and rock to gospel and contemporary choral music.
Having performed at prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall, as well as to sold-out local theatre audiences, the choir will bring a dynamic programme of music to Priory Park this summer.
The performance will feature favourites from iconic artists such as Tina Turner and Stevie Wonder, alongside a special medley from the acclaimed musical Hamilton, celebrating the richness of American musical history. Vox Musical Director, Katie McEwan said: “The Music in the Park series is one of the highlights of the summer calendar across the City and a great opportunity to see some of our local artists completely free.
“Our Bandstand appearance has become an out and out favourite with our Southend Vox members and wonderful audience, which has grown bigger every year. This year we are hoping to attract our biggest crowd yet with ‘Vox and Roll’; a programme of music and that really packs a punch, and a festival feel that will hopefully get people up on their feet dancing.”
The 70-member Southend Vox will be joined by their sister choir, Vox Chamber. An auditioned women’s ensemble, Vox Chamber performs an intricate and uplifting repertoire across concerts, competitions, weddings and special events. The group returns to the Bandstand following a recent performance at King’s College London.
This year, both choirs are proud to be supporting The ME Association. Having raised over £25,000 for charitable causes in recent years, members continue to dedicate their performances to raising both awareness and vital funds for their chosen charity of the year.
ME is a condition that affects members of the choir community directly and indirectly, making the cause particularly meaningful to the group.
While entry to Music in the Park: Vox & Roll is free, donations to The ME Association are warmly welcomed.
Together, Southend Vox and Vox Chamber promise an afternoon of uplifting music, rich harmonies and summer celebration. Audience members are encouraged to bring a deckchair, picnic and dancing shoes for an unforgettable afternoon in Priory Park.
