Rochford Drug Arrest - A MAN was arrested in Rochford on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply.

A MAN was arrested in Rochford on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply.

Operational Support Group (OSG) officers were on routine patrol on Friday September 22, and quickly stopped a car after it was spotted speeding.

The Ford Focus was stopped shortly after 10pm in The Chase, Rayleigh.

Officers thoroughly searched the car under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act and found cannabis, cash and mobile phones along with drug-related paraphernalia.

A 20-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of possession of drugs with intent to supply and taken to Southend custody.

As part of their investigation, OSG officers conducted a search at his home address where they found further drugs and a five-figure sum of cash.

Detective Chief Inspector Neal Miller explained their tough stance on drug crime: “What was originally thought to be a simple speeding offence, turned out to be a significant stop when they uncovered drugs, cash and drug paraphernalia, indicating drug supply.

“OSG officers patrol the whole of the county to prevent and detect all crimes, and they will take robust action when presented with evidence of drug offences, which often affect the heart of our communities.

“Anyone suspected of supplying drugs can expect to be arrested.

“Drugs have no part to play in our communities and the drugs have been seized.

“The man has been released on bail until Sunday 12 November whilst we continue our enquiries.”
