A LOCAL amateur dramatic society fundraised for A Leigh-based music charity during their recent show.
SODS (Southend Operatic & Dramatic Society) collected money for The Music Man Project on the doors of their production of Footloose.
Ambassadors for the charity, which provides award-winning musical education for people with disabilities, raised over £500 over the show’s run at The Palace Theatre in Westcliff.
The Music Man Project said: “Huge thank you to SODS for choosing our The Music Man Project as their nominated charity for their amazing performances of Footloose.
“The MMP Global Ambassadors collected £533.91 and had a great time meeting the fabulous cast.”
In attendance at one of the performances was Southend West MP Anna Firth, who is the patron of The Music Man Project.
She said: “Huge thank you to SODS for inviting me to your fantastic production of Footloose at the Palace Theatre.
“It was an amazing evening.
“As a Patron of the wonderful The Music Man Project UK, I was so delighted to meet MMP Global Ambassadors, Wendy and Daniel, and to hear they have collected £533.91 over the six performances!
