Belfairs Swim Centre, in Fairview Gardens, closed the main pool for ‘emergency repairs’ at the end of October.

A statement on Belfairs Swim Centre Facebook page posted on Novembe 2 said: “We regret to in form you that the centre is currently closed and will be for the whole weekend.

“Contractors are due on site Tuesday to which we will be posting updates as soon as possible. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.”

Fusion Lifestyle, which runs the centre on behalf of Southend City Council, said it was closed due to ‘unforeseen circumstances’ but has been unable to confirm when it will re-open. It has also been claimed that the smaller teaching pool has been shut since August.

Swimmers took to Facebook slamming the lack of communication.

One post read: “The date for re-opening the Pool may be out of your control at the moment. But good communication with your customers isn’t.”
