HM COASTGUARD Southend were called to seven incidents over a 24-hour period, just one day into the school summer holiday.
The Coastguard reported that they were called to a variety of incidents on July 20, including rescuing two teenagers aged 13 and 14, who were drifting out on an ongoing tide, as well as attending a vessel on fire, whilst out on the River Crouch.
They also responded to reports of multiple people in distress in the water near Southend Pier and a number of medical emergencies on the foreshore.
HM Coastguard Southend worked with multiple partners to tackle the incidents, including RNLI Southend, West Mersea Lifeboat Station, RNLI Burnham on Crouch, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, East of England Ambulance Service, NHS Trust and Essex Police.
HM Coastguard Southend asked that the public ‘keep safe’ when visiting Southend’s coastline, and advised them to call 999 if any incidents occur.
