New Year Fireworks

AN ILLUMINATING firework display will welcome in the New Year on Southend Seafront this year.
Following a successful show last year with hundreds of residents flocking to the display, the Southend Business Association has confirmed the event will run again, to “welcome in 2026 with colour, light and unity.”
The ongoing series of Saturday Fireworks, which ended on November 15th, also proved a popular success.
Nick Singer, Director of Kingpins Southend, said: “this event is about more than fireworks, it’s about togetherness.
“We wanted to create something that brings joy to families, supports out local businesses, and reminds everyone why Southend is such a special place to live, work and visit.
“Whether you’re celebrating early with the kids or counting down to midnight, we look forward to welcoming you to the seafront.”
Two displays will take place, at both 6 pm and at midnight.
The early showing offers a family-friendly show, timed to ensure children can enjoy the build-up.
A second display will take place as a traditional countdown to the New Year.
Both displays will last approximately 30 minutes, and are completely free of charge.
The two displays, launched from a barge to the east of Southend Pier opposite Monte Carole Arcade, will be visible all along the seafront, but City Beach is the prime spot to catch all the action.
Attendees can pair the show with an evening exploring Southend’s seafront arcades and indulging in hot doughnuts and other treats for a truly festive experience.
Matt Dent, councillor for Business, culture, music and tourism, said: “We ran the New Year’s fireworks last year and they were an enormous success, particularly running two lots.
“We’re hoping to replicate this and build on it this year.”
