New Breakfast Clubs

NEW breakfast clubs set to open in Southend will make the best start to the day for children, says David Burton-Sampson, MP for Southend West & Leigh.
On a visit to Victory Park and Sutton House Academies, was thrilled to hear about the plans.
He said: “I am so happy to see that these schools have been selected as one of Labour’s Best Start free breakfast clubs.
“I cannot wait to see the club open in April. It was great to come down and see how schools offering a fresh start are now able to give their pupils the best start too, with these new government funded free breakfast clubs.
“It will allow the school to spend more money on enriching their curriculum, knowing that all the costs of providing breakfast are covered. These free breakfast clubs will help parents with an extra half hour of childcare in the morning and families can save up to £450 a year.”
The two schools specialise in giving children and young people a fresh start when mainstream school hasn’t worked out.
“Getting children school-ready so they are able to improve their attendance, attainment and wellbeing, is absolutely key.
“It’s a perfect fit for these schools that concentrate on making sure that their pupils are seen, safe and can succeed.
“As well as improving the household finances of local families, they boost parents’ work choices and children’s life chances.
“I’m so pleased that after encouraging schools to apply, these schools have been selected. I there will be another chance to secure one in September, as we roll out this programme and I would encourage more local schools to apply then.”
