Cannabis Grow Uncovered

A CANNABIS grow has been uncovered after officers executed a warrant on Hamlet Court Road, Westcliff.
Southend neighbourhood policing’s Proactive Problem Solving Team forced entry to an address and then broke through a series of locked doors before discovering rooms in a dilapidated flat that had been converted for drug cultivation.
In total, there were 165 mature cannabis plants in the property, all of which have been seized and will now be destroyed.
The operation was led by Sergeant Alex Farr, who said: “This warrant is another example of the Proactive Problem Solving Team’s work to tackle organised crime in Southend.
“We received reports of suspicious activity at the property and when we entered the address it was clear this was a professional operation with the intention of producing cannabis to sell on for profit.
“The flat was in a dangerous condition with electricity wires hanging between rooms, which was potentially putting all the adjoining properties at risk.
“Drug dealing is linked to a whole range of other types of offending from anti-social behaviour through to serious violence. This latest seizure limits this gang’s ability to operate in the city.”
