Society’s Spring Concert

TWO local choirs will be performing Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana and John Rutter’s Gloria as part of Southend Choral Society’s Spring Concert, conducted by Roger Humphrey.
Southend Choral Society will be joined by Southend Festival Chorus to perform the two popular pieces, with accompanists Rosemary Pennington and Stephen King on piano and organ respectably.
Carl Orff’s cantata is based on a series of earthy German Medieval songs, and is best known for the rousing ‘O Fortuna’.
Joining the choirs for this performance will be soloists Elizabeth Dunlop, soprano; Colin Gilmore, counter tenor; and Hugo Burgess, baritone.
There will also be a percussion ensemble and The Southend Boys’ and Girls’ Choirs will be taking part.
The performance takes place on Saturday 25th April at 7.30pm at Kings Road United Reformed Church, Westcliff, SS0 8LH
Ticket prices: Adults £12, under 18s £2.
