MARK Francois visited a primary school in his constituency, to see the site earmarked for two new classrooms (and an associated nursery).
Mr Francois, the MP for Rayleigh and Wickford, was visiting St. Nicholas Church of England Primary School, Rawreth, to view the location of an extension, which has just been approved by the Department for Education (DfE), as well as Essex County Council, as the Local Education Authority.
This new building is designed to accommodate additional pupils, including those from families moving onto the new Wolsey Park estate nearby, off Rawreth Lane.
The new build will also allow the school to convert an existing classroom into an ‘in-house’ nursery.
Commenting on this welcome development, Mr Francois said: “This decision, which I have argued in favour of, for a long time, is good news, both for the school itself and also for parents and young pupils living in the Rawreth area.
“These new facilities will allow them to expand capacity, at a school which is already oversubscribed, plus providing a nursery offer as well, so it’s a win all round.”
