Inaccurate Disorder Reports – ESSEX police have issued a statement relating to inaccurate reports of disorder in Southend on Sunday 3 May.

ESSEX police have issued a statement relating to inaccurate reports of disorder in Southend on Sunday 3 May.
The statement said: “We are aware of inaccurate reports claiming there was further disorder in Southend High Street on the evening of Sunday 3 May. This is not true.
“There was no disorder. Our officers, who were carrying out their patrols, simply carried out a routine stop search of two men in the High Street, which was dealt with without incident.
“Since Friday’s events our officers have carried out extra patrols, put on a dispersal order, and deployed our Live Facial Recognition cameras.
“The town centre was calm last night and officers remain in the area.
“We understand that people are concerned, but it’s really important we get behind out City. We would ask people to rely on information from official sources and not share inaccurate reports that may cause unnecessary concern.”
