A TEENAGER has been left with life-changing injuries after a terrifying robbery on Westcliff Parade.
The 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old-girl were walking close to the Westcliff Hotel on Westcliff Parade when they were approached by two men and a woman, and threatened.
The 18-year-old man was stabbed in the back a number of times during the assault, which took place on Wednesday, February 22 at around 5.45 pm.
The teenager was taken to hospital for treatment. The 16-year-old-girl was also injured in the attack, but her injuries were also confirmed as “less serious.”
She had several rings stolen during the robbery.
Martin Terry, independent councillor responsible for public safety protection, was said: “It is absolutely awful to hear of this incident. We don’t want an incident like this one in our community at all.
“This type of violence is unwelcome and obviously needs to stop. Sadly, it is a sign of the times at the moment. But Essex police are making great efforts with these crimes. So, I will urge any resident with any information at all to please report it to the police as soon as possible.”
Police enquiries remain ongoing, and no arrests have yet been made.
A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “We are investigating an assault in Westcliff, which has left a man with life-changing injuries.
“We believe an 18-year-old man had been assaulted near to the Westcliff Hotel in Westcliff Parade at around 5.45pm on Wednesday, February 22.
“He has been taken to hospital for treatment to stab wounds to his back.
“A 16-year-old girl sustained less serious injuries.
“It has been reported they were attacked by two men and a woman and the girl had several rings stolen.
“Our enquiries are ongoing.
