Creativity at Fair Havens

MORE than 100 people visited Fair Havens Hospice in Prittlewell on Saturday 6 June for a special art exhibition celebrating the creativity and achievements of patients living with incurable conditions.
The free public exhibition showcased artwork created by adults supported by the hospice’s Wellbeing Team through a range of creative therapy workshops and one-to-one sessions. Visitors enjoyed a diverse collection of work, including acrylic paintings, watercolours, embroidery and creative writing, all produced by patients as part of their care and support at the hospice.
Guests also had the opportunity to take part in hands-on activities, including magnet-making, and to learn more about the services Fair Havens provides to local families.
Creative therapy forms an important part of the wellbeing support available at Fair Havens, helping patients develop new skills, connect with others and express themselves through art. The sessions are designed to reduce anxiety, build confidence and provide meaningful moments of enjoyment alongside specialist hospice care.
Christine Harris, Supportive Therapies Lead at Havens Hospices, said: “It was wonderful to welcome so many people to Fair Havens and share the incredible creativity of our patients.
“The exhibition celebrated not only the artwork itself, but also the positive impact creative therapy can have on someone’s wellbeing. We are incredibly proud of everyone who contributed and grateful to the community for coming along to support them.”
Fair Havens provides free specialist care and support to adults living with incurable conditions across Southend, Castle Point and Rochford, helping patients and their families make the most of every day.
