Battle Of The Choirs

BELFAIRS Woodland Centre have thanked everyone involved and who attended the recent Battle of the Choirs.
A spokesperson said: “A huge thank you to everyone who grabbed a chair and came to listen to some amazing music at Belfairs second Battle of the Choirs.
“First up we had the fabulous Love2Sign, an award – winning community choir made up of Hearing and D/deaf members with mixed signing ability. The aim of the choir is to show that music can be enjoyed by everyone regardless of hearing ability and their triumphant return to this event proved this to be true.
“We had an exceptional musical interlude with Charlie, Joe & Peter – the Creekside Band, followed by another nautically themed group: the wonderful Fisherman’s Chapel Gospel Choir.
“This was a first visit to Belfairs, and their amazing spiritual harmonies were a winner with the crowd.
“Our final act for the evening was, great friend of Belfairs Woodland Centre, The Waterside Choir.
“Run by Grammy-nominated producer and arranger Dave Cooke, Waterside Choir is about musical training in 5-part harmony-singing and having fun with friends.
“The audience, got to decide the winner with our (highly scientific) clapometer.”
In reverse order: 3rd 91db Fisherman’s Chapel Gospel Choir – 2nd 92db Love2Sign – 1st 93db Waterside Choir.
The spokes person added: “It couldn’t have been tighter.
“Dave Cooke accepted the prize from organiser Alison Askwith.
“Belfairs Woodland Centre would like to thank: Dave from 440 Sound Visual for running the PA all evening. The staff and volunteers of Essex Wildlife Trust (we really couldn’t do it without you!) All the choir members and musicians who gave their time and enthusiasm to make it a special evening.
“Dennis for, once again, creating a wonderful prize from local coppice timber – it looked stunning.
“You, the audience, for making it all worthwhile.
“See you at Music In The Woods on 11th July.”
