Mill Works Begin

VISITORS to The Mill Arts & Events Centre will soon notice some changes taking place around the venue, as a programme of improvement works gets underway from 10 August to help maintain and enhance the much-loved community facility.
The works are due to run until the end of December and will include improvements to the roof, replacement of all windows, the installation of new heating and ventilation systems, and a range of other essential compliance and building improvement works. Visitors are likely to notice scaffolding around parts of the building as the project gets underway.
A council statement said: “The Mill Arts & Events Centre will remain open throughout the works, and there are currently no plans to close the building completely.
“The project has been carefully scheduled to minimise disruption and avoid affecting one-off events and bookings. While some regular bookings may be impacted during certain stages of the project, any hirers affected will be contacted directly and kept informed of any changes that may influence their bookings.”
Coun Adi Malviya, Leader of Rochford District Council and Chair of the Strategy, Finance, Policy & Economic Development Committee, said: “These improvements will help create a more comfortable, modern and welcoming venue for events and everyone who visits, takes part in activities or hires the halls.
“We have worked hard to plan the programme around the centre’s existing use and to keep disruption to a minimum. I’d like to thank our hirers, visitors and community groups for their patience and understanding while these improvements are being carried out.”
