COUN Maxine Sadza, Deputy Leader of Southend City Council, has issued a comment in response to the Government’s recent announcement on further devolution powers for mayors, including proposals for mayoral authorities to receive a share of income tax revenues.
Coun Sadza said: “We welcome the Government’s latest announcement to devolution to Mayors, including a share of income tax to Greater Essex.
“We’re working closely with the Government to build a city we can be proud of, and we are keen to get cracking on bringing forward the benefits of a Greater Essex Mayor as quickly as possible.
“Once established, the Mayor will help Essex be even more firmly on the map for even greater national influence with Number 10 Downing Street.”
