THE Rayleigh & Wickford MP, Mark Francois, has warmly welcomed progress on the construction of a new Special Educational Needs (SEN) school, in his constituency.
Mr Francois, who came up with the initial idea for the new school, paid a visit during the Parliamentary Summer Recess, to check on the status of the build programme.
Mr Francois witnessed the rapid progress to date, including the construction of the steel frame for the two-storey school, on the site of the Wolsey Park development at Rawreth, on the edge of Rayleigh.
Commenting on the exciting progress to date with the school’s construction, Mr Francois said: “This project, to create the first ever SEN School in the Rochford District, has been a ‘labour of love’ of mine for over three years now. Due to some very hard work by the Keir Constuction team, despite the recent hot weather, much of the steel frame has already been erected, in just a few months.
“If this rapid rate of progress is maintained, we should hopefully see the school open for its first SEN pupils, in the spring of next year.”
