A LEIGH artists’ collective is set to shine a light on emergent local creativity.
‘Intersections’, an exhibition at Art House Social is the initiative of Right Hemisphere, a not-for-profit artist collective, set up to help local creatives get their work seen.
The exhibition brings together sixteen makers for a large and accessible two-day exhibition in the heart of the town.
Annabel Barry, Nicola Osborne, and Tina Robertson founded Right Hemisphere in 2025, named after the intuitive holistic and emotional side of the brain.
Formed from a need for somewhere to exhibit their work, and showcase the variety of making on offer, a spokesperson explained: “Frustrated with a lack of venues and chances to exhibit, we have decided to do something about this, arranging an exhibition, alongside invited local artists.”
So far, the group have had exhibition and events in both domestic and gallery settings, and held numerous workshop and demo sessions.
Adding: “We wanted to create our own opportunities, as well as celebrate the work of local artists, by arranging exhibitions in the South Essex area.”
Intersections will offer residents the chance to view and engage with work in a variety of different media, scale, genres and subject matter, whilst much of it will also be for sale.
“Through showing this work together, unexpected ways in which these local artists’ processes and outcomes overlap and intersect, will be revealed.”
Exhibiting artists include Vadims Pjatrikovs, Florence Geary, Steve Bacon, Scotty Brave, Rebecca Coleman, Natasha Davis, Bronwyn Oldham, Barbera Naylor, Linda Jenkins, Julia Hart, Michael Upton, Gill Whitehead, and Tim Severwright – alongside works by Annabel, Nicola, and Tina.
A special opening event on September 11th will run from 7pm to 9.30 pm, with daytime opening thereafter on the 12th and 13th from 10 am to 4 pm.
All are welcome to attend the exhibition and opening event at Art House Social, which is located at Unit 4, maple Avenue, Leigh Cliff Buildings, SS9 1PR.
