Belfairs 5 Fun Run

SUNDAY September 20 saw the 9th edition of the Belfairs 5 Fun Run – a 5(ish) mile run through beautiful Autumn woodland.
Over 90 runners took part and competed for the gorgeous bowls turned by Essex Wildlife Trust volunteers Sue & Dennis Carter. These are all made from local coppice wood generated in the management of the woods.
In a tight race the top three men were Ben Brooks (27:20), Andrew Dowie (28:08) and Dean Ovel (28:21) and the top three women Charlotte Brooks (29:24), Chloe Barnard (32:44) and Kim Hollan (37:30).
A spokesperson said: “The organisers would like to thank all the staff and volunteers at Belfairs for their time and commitment to today’s event – we really could not ‘run’ it without your continued enthusiasm.
“The Leigh Lions for their help with the marshalling.
“We would also like to thank the staff at Southend City Council for their help and Primary Ambulance for their support.”
