A LOCAL group held their annual fundraising quiz night for local charities.

Rayleigh Lions held the charity quiz night at the Hullbridge Community Association on Friday, March 10th, raising a total of over £700 for good causes, during a lively contest that saw 19 teams take part.

Blind Venison came first and won £300, which they donated to Southend Foodbank. Runners up Havens Hopefuls nominated Havens Hospices to receive their £200 prize. The Hopefuls came third, and their £100 will go to Hopeworx.

David Bodimeade, President of Rayleigh Lions said: “Thanks to all who supported our quiz night, and to The Anchor for donating a meal for two for the raffle.

“Everyone seemed to have a great night. Well done to the top three teams, who donated to great causes.”

Since starting in 1974, Rayleigh Lions has raised and donated over £1 million to good causes in the Rayleigh, Hockley, Hullbridge and Rochford areas.
