THE Leigh Town Council Chairman’s fundraising night in aid of a children’s charity raised over £600 for the cause.
Independent councillor Keith Evans chose Gold Geese, a leigh-based charity for children and families experiencing cancer, to be the beneficiaries of his fundraising for the year
The Oompah Band’s fundraiser, held at Leigh community centre in Elm Road, was attended by Southend City Mayor, Coun Kevin Robinson accompanied by the Mayoress.
Coun Evans said: “The night was very successful and well attended.
“The Edelweiss German Band kept the audience entertained with their music, songs and games, and a raffle and prizes added to the fun.”
