Planning Appeal
RESIDENTS have launched an appeal after Southend Council refused permission for their plans for approval of details pursuant to a previous planning application.
The original proposal sought permission to raise the existing roof level of the property at 17 Broadlawn, as well as raising the existing roof level.
The appeal, pertaining to two conditions, has been launched as the council considered the samples of materials and tree protection measures to be insufficient.
The report stated: The details of the materials, are unacceptable as they would not reasonably accord to the prevailing characteristics of the surrounding townscape and would be harmful to the character and appearance of the site and surroundings.
“The details of tree protection are not sufficient to demonstrate that the proposal, including construction works will not have a detrimental impact on existing trees on site. For these reasons the information submitted is insufficient.”
Southend Council will have the final say on the outcome of the appeal.
Extension
CONDITIONAL permission has been granted for a two-storey side extension and a single storey rear extension at 24 Underwood Square Leigh.
The amended proposal also includes plans to add a front porch and alter rear elevations.
Lantern
CONDITIONAL permission has been granted for a single storey rear extension with a roof lantern at 40 Bellhouse Lane, Leigh.
Extension
CONDITIONAL permission has been granted for a part single and part two storey rear extension to 85 Chalkwell Esplanade, Westcliff.
Extension
APPLICANTS have been granted conditional permission to raise the ridge height and extend the roof, whilst erecting a single storey rear and front extensions and alter side elevations to 292 Westbourne Grove, Westcliff.
Refusal
PERMISSION has been refused for a loft conversion in Westcliff.
Applicants applied to raise the ridge height and make alterations to roof with dormers to south and west (rear) elevations, to form habitable accommodation in the loftspace of 1 St James Close.
The application included plans to erect part first floor part two storey extensions to the north, south and west (rear) and east elevations, with a two-storey front porch extension and balconies to the first and second floor southern and western elevations.
The plans were refused because the scale, size, mass and bulk of the design was considered cramped incongruous and out of keeping with the character of the existing dwelling m the rear garden and the street scene.
