Suspended Sentence - A MAN who took part in a vicious assault that left a man with a badly injured face has been handed a suspended sentence.

TEENAGERS in Leigh Library Gardens were robbed at knifepoint by a balaclava-clad group of men.

The incident, which took place in the evening of April 3 saw the two victims assaulted, and one of the boys threatened with a knife, before the assailants stole bags and hats.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses to come forward, as they believe members of the public in the park at the time could provide valuable information.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: “We are appealing for witnesses following a knifepoint robbery in Leigh-on-sea on Monday, April 3.

“Officers were called to Leigh Library Gardens on Broadway West shortly after 6pm on Monday, following reports of a knifepoint robbery.

“The two teenage victims were in the gardens when they were approached by a group of men wearing balaclavas. The men threatened one of the boys with a knife and assaulted the two victims before stealing bags and hats.

“It’s believed that there were a number of members of the public in the gardens at the time. We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this robbery to contact us and assist with this investigation.

“If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us.”
