An award-winning Leigh charity has a famous singing icon as its new patron.
The Music Man Project, founded by David Stanley, offers musical education to people with learning disabilities, and has performed across the country including at the Royal Albert Hall and London Palladium.
Now, music star Michael Ball will be the group’s new patron, taking on the mantel from the late Sir David Amess, who championed The Music Man Project for many years.
Mr Ball is a renowned singer and actor who notably starred in the original London production of Les Miserables, and is ideally placed to advocate for the importance of music in people’s lives.
Part of this new appointment will see him supporting the need for inclusive music education and performance opportunities for people with learning disabilities.
Mr Ball said: “I am delighted to become a patron of The Music Man Project.
“As soon as I met The Music Man Project, I knew I wanted to be involved.
“The work that David Stanley and his team do is truly inspiring. Music transforms lives. I look forward to being a cheerleader for everything The Music Man Project does.
“Together, we will create magic!”
David Stanley, who recently received a nomination for Southend’s Freedom of the City for his charity work, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Michael Ball as our new patron.
“His dedication to the arts and charity work makes him a perfect fit for our organisation. We are honoured to have his support.
“With Michael on board, we are excited to continue expanding our reach and impact, bringing the joy of music to even more people around the country.”
