Event Celebrates Finn

A LEIGH charity event celebrated the life of a young boy who passed away aged 10, due to cancer.

The event at Leigh North Street Primary School commenced at sunrise, on the day that would have been Finn Clancy’s 16th birthday.

Finn, who tragically passed away at the age of 10 due to cancer, has left an enduring impact. His mother, Lorraine, has been tirelessly advocating for childhood cancer awareness ever since. The event’s purpose was to generate funds for Aoife’s Bubbles, a charitable organization focused on children’s cancer.

The core of the event featured an array of yoga sessions, accompanied by a high-intensity workout and a soul-soothing sound bath.

Remarkably, all the sessions offered throughout the day were entirely free, with instructors generously contributing their time and expertise.

The local community rallied behind the event, with numerous homegrown instructors joining forces, including Body Busters, Yoga 4 All, Monica Samuels, Lucy Baker, Barbara Shead, House of Yoga, Derry Hall, and Good Vibrations 67.

Despite the less-than-ideal weather conditions, the event garnered remarkable popularity. A particularly heart-warming instance involved a family traveling from Coventry to take part in the proceedings. The day’s efforts resulted in a fundraising total of over £450.

These funds are earmarked to help establish a holiday home, offering respite breaks to families with children battling cancer.

Looking ahead, an upcoming initiative slated for September revolves around an art exhibition.

Adventure Island has pledged its support for this venture, signifying a continued commitment to raising awareness for the cause.
