A THRIVING boat tour enterprise in Leigh has secured three exclusive dates for passengers to witness Southend’s spectacular seafront fireworks from the tranquil vantage point of the estuary this year.
Angus Browne, a 34-year-old entrepreneur, established “Brownes Thames Estuary Boat Trips” in 2021 and recently obtained a pleasure boat license from Southend Council.
Responding to popular demand, the company is set to offer excursions to experience Southend’s renowned seafront fireworks in both October and November, in collaboration with Southend Pier.
A spokesperson announced on their Facebook page: “Looking to escape the Southend crowds? Why not savour this fantastic display from the serenity of the sea aboard the Starfish boat, which accommodates just 10 passengers!”
The confirmed dates are as follows: October 7 from 7 pm to 9 pm, October 28 from 7 pm to 10 pm, and November 11 from 7 pm to 9 pm. These one-of-a-kind outings are priced at £70 per person, which includes pier admission, train fare, boat embarkation, and return to Leigh.
Passengers will board from the Southend Pier slipway.
Trip participants have the option to purchase onboard food boxes from the popular Sara’s Tea Garden in Old Leigh at £18 per person; however, arrangements must be made with Brownes in advance.
Alternatively, they are welcome to bring their own food and beverages, with the stipulation that consumption occurs on deck and not in the wheelhouse. Alcohol is allowed in moderation.
