FUNDRAISERS joined forces for Southend Hospital’s annual walk.
Walk for Wards 2023 on Sunday September 17 saw hundreds of participants, some in fancy dress, enjoy a stroll along the seafront, all walking for a ward, department or appeal, which sat close to their heart.
All beneficiaries are wards or departments under the Mid and South Essex NHS Trust.
Participants in the event received a medal as they crossed the finishing line outside Adventure Island.
Lucy Thomas-Clayton, director of charity and voluntary services said she was amazed by the response to the appeal.
She said: “it has been fantastic to see so many of our supporters back for another year of Walk for Wards.
“Being such a fun and family-friendly day, it’s by far one of our most popular events.
“Once again, our local community’s support has overwhelmed us and its always wonderful to see our regular participants as well as the first-timers that have made the effort and commitment to raise funds for their local hospital.
“Our thanks to every one of them. The response never fails to amaze us. I would like to thank our event supporters Adventure Island.
“The ongoing support of our charity and hospitals is something we are extremely grateful of.”
