AN INDEPENDENT local political party has outlined its policies and announced its members who will stand in the general election.
The Southend Confelicity Party, with a focus on “joy in other people’s happiness” held a manifesto meeting at Westcliff’s Cobham Hotel.
James Miller, who will stand for Leigh, said that the party recently welcomed a new member for Milton, Helen Miller.
Other announced members for local wards include Jane Wilkes for West Leigh and Tris Bembridge for Chalkwell.
The meeting also saw them agree on three policies that are central to the party.
These were the groups opposition to the closure of ticket offices at train stations; their opposition to tree felling where it is possible to avoid, and the upholding of legal obligations and human rights of residents who are classified with special educational needs and disabilities.
Underlining the equality at the heart of their mission, a spokesperson for the party said: “Confelicity is about creating an environment where all of us, within us, can reach a state of mind of happiness, contentment and satisfaction; where we feel a deep sense of meaning and purpose leading to passion and immersion for the future, on the path to fulfilling our potential for the betterment of ourselves and society.”
