A NEW gym in Leigh opened its doors this September.
Anytime Fitness, located in Rectory Grove, embarked on an exciting new journey, punctuating their grand opening with a touch of tradition alongside forward-thinking initiatives.
Marking the occasion at precisely 11:47 am, the gym’s decision to throw open its doors at this time pays homage to the old Post Office clock that once graced the building, before the gym took over.
The location, originally the Leigh Post Office, has been lovingly transformed into a community gym under the stewardship of Zoe and her partner.
Zoe shared her enthusiasm, stating: “We were thrilled to inaugurate our club on Tuesday, September 26, precisely at 11:47. The old post office clock had frozen at 11:47 when we salvaged it from the ruins.
“We had it lovingly restored by ‘It’s About Time’ in Chalkwell. Although it may not be an ornate timepiece, it carries a special nostalgia for the locals.”
Anytime Fitness offers a wealth of benefits to the local community, with a dedicated focus on Leigh and the unique needs of its members.
Included in every membership are fitness classes, which will adapt and expand based on the feedback and requirements given to the team.
Zoe explained her motivation, saying: “We’ve established a community gym in the heart of my hometown, because I wanted to create a convenient fitness centre where individuals don’t feel the pressure to be exceptionally fit before setting foot inside.
“I’ve often experienced that intimidation factor in gyms, and I believe people simply want to enjoy a workout and improve their mental and physical well-being.”
This gym is exclusively for adults aged 18 and above, providing a welcoming and enjoyable space for those committed to their health and well-being.
Presently, Anytime Fitness operates from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. seven days a week, with plans to potentially extend their hours, pending planning approval.
