A MAN has died after struggling in water at a fishing lake in Eastwood.

The incident also saw a woman rescued from the same water during the incident.

Essex Police were called to Eastwood Rise at around 12:35pm on Thursday, October 26th.

An entrance to the lake – believed to be a private member fishing lake off Eastwood Rise –was shut off all through Thursday afternoon as Essex Police conducted a rescue mission.

This was following concerns for the welfare of a man and woman.

Sadly, a man was recovered from the water, but despite the best efforts of paramedics at the scene, he died. His death is not being treated as suspicious.

A woman was also recovered from the water and was left in the care of the ambulance service.

After this assessment at the scene the women did not require any further hospital treatment.

During the operation, The Ramblers Riding Club and Pony Parties, in Eastwood Rise, cancelled their sessions whilst the emergency incident was ongoing.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: “A man has died after an incident in the water in Eastwood Rise, Leigh.

“We were called by colleagues in the ambulance service at about 12.35pm on Thursday October 26 following concerns for the welfare of a man and woman.

“His family are being supported by specialist officers.

“We are continuing to investigate at the scene in Eastwood Rise. We are not treating this man’s death as suspicious.”

An East of England Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 12.20 pm on Thursday October 26, with reports of concerns for two people in the water at Eastwood Rise in Leigh.

“Two ambulances, an ambulance officer vehicle, three vehicles from the Hazardous Area Response Team and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.

“A woman was recovered from the water and did not require transport to hospital.

“Sadly, an adult man was pronounced dead at the scene after being recovered from the water.”
