THE Dalmatians, a musical ensemble led by Leigh’s very own Mark Dowdeswell, are set to unveil their latest album this November in Old Leigh.
With roots that trace back to the late 1970s and a musical journey extending well into the mid-1980s, the band resurfaced two decades later when Mark Dowdeswell, one of the original members, joined forces with Dave Mariner to craft a fresh album.
Their collaboration spanned geographical boundaries, with Mark residing in Leigh and Dave in The Netherlands. Their creative exchange was facilitated by what they describe as “the clever use of carrier pigeon and smoke signal.”
As they delved deeper into the album’s production, they welcomed guitarist Bruce Williams, along with the vocal prowess of Emma Rolph and the bass stylings of Andy Farrell.
After months of work, their eagerly anticipated album, Unleashed, was completed and ready to be shared with a wider audience.
The resulting collection of songs is an eclectic blend, a musical tapestry that reflects Mark and Dave’s profound appreciation for the music that emerged from the 1960s, 70s, and 80s.
For music enthusiasts of diverse tastes, the opportunity to experience The Dalmatians’ new album live is just around the corner, with a launch event taking place on November 16th, from 7:30 to 10:30 pm, hosted at The Boatyard restaurant.
The band will be supported by performers Going Down South and Out of the West.
Secure your tickets for the evening from The Boatyard.
