SOUTHEND RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Association) is encouraging brave participants to take part in a freezing cold dip in the Southend Estuary on Boxing Day.
Funds raised will go towards the running of the local RNLI Lifeboat Station, part of the charity that saves lives at sea.
Participants will pay a £6 fee and are then invited to fundraise further to support the organisation, which nationally costs £438,000 a day to run.
Fancy dress is also encouraged with those in the best costumes awarded prizes on the day!
Daniel Wanna, Event Manager & Southend RNLI Helmsman, said: “We are delighted to return the Southend RNLI Boxing Day Dip for another year!
“This will be our 8th year running the event. Historically, this event has raised in excess of £12,000, enabling us to continue to save lives at sea, here in Southend. All profit from this event is utilised specifically at the Southend RNLI Station.
“A very big thank you to everyone who has supported the event in the past, we look forward to seeing you again this year.”
