TRIBUTES have been paid following the death of a prominent Leigh businessman.
Barry Wiltshire, who was the Director of Leigh Timber, died this November, aged 76.
A life-long Leigh resident, Mr. Wiltshire was born in Highlands Boulevard, and after his schooling at West Leigh and Belfairs, went straight into the family business, as the third generation of the Wiltshire family to head the firm.
Mr. Wiltshire was director of the traditional timber merchants for many years, and was a highly regarded and respected businessman in Leigh.
He was also well known for his work in the Leigh Rotary and membership of The Estuary Club in Leigh.
His funeral was held on Thursday November 16, with a cortege that passed Leigh Timber.
Staff, customers and well-wishers lined the road near by as his cortege passed.
