LEIGH Lions Club donated a defibrillator to a local charity.
The lifesaving apparatus was donated to the St Vincent De Paul centre in Short Street, Southend.
Daniel Cauchi, manager at the centre, said: “This essential equipment will give us the opportunity to save lives. At the centre, due to the people we work with, we have a potentially greater need for a defibrillator.
“Ambulance services are overwhelmed at the moment, so it is important that we have the ability to intervene and potentially to save lived when we need to.
The unit cost £1,500 and will be kept at the centre.
Mr Cauchi thanked Leigh Lions for their “generous support.”
