A GB News commentator from Leigh has reportedly said she intend to add her name to the list of candidates to lead the UKIP Party.
Lois Perry, born in Leigh and living in Westcliff, wants to put her hat in the ring to be the Essex candidate at the next general election.
She said: “It’s a very exciting proposal, ‘Essex girl leading UKIP.’
“I’m quietly confident that I’m the frontrunner to be elected by members in May. I’ve had huge support from the public so far.
“I want to challenge the Tories and Reform UK where I feel they’re not taking people’s issues seriously enough.
“I want to have a party that appeals to disaffected voters on both sides, from the Conservative and Labour.
UKIP chairman Ben Walker reportedly commented that he had not received any official applications in the leadership race.
Applications close in March.
