A 9 YEAR old boy from Benfleet has been tackling heights on a climbing wall, to raise vital funds for his local children’s hospice.

George Robson has raised more than £3,800 for Little Havens, smashing his original target of £1,000, by reaching the top of a challenging climbing wall at Rock Hub in Basildon.

George has always wanted to give back and make a difference to the children’s hospice based in Thundersley, following the support Little Havens has given his brother and family.

George attends weekly climbing lessons at Rock Hub at the Basildon Sports Village, and with their support, an exciting fundraising idea was born. George, with the guidance of instructors, could attempt to reach the top and high-five the toy monkey placed at the summit.

After two weeks, with his family and friends cheering him on, George reached the top of the challenging climbing wall.

His mum Anna said, “We’re so incredibly proud of George for achieving his fundraising goal, giving back to the charity, which has given us so much. He is our little ray of sunshine.

“The services Little Havens provides to families like ours are invaluable and all the money raised, thanks to our incredible family and friends, will go a long way.”

Little Havens provides specialist care and support for babies, children and young people living with complex or incurable conditions from Essex. Its care includes everyone to make sure the right support is there for families, where and when they need it. This care is provided absolutely free of charge, thanks to the support from local people like George who fundraise and make donations.
